June 2026 | Finding Direction Again

Coming out of May, I was feeling a little lost.

I'd just spent three months creating my very first colouring book, and once it was finished I found myself wondering... what now?

A few of my day-one supporters suggested I focus on expanding my greeting card range before jumping into another big project, so that's exactly what I did. I spent the first week of June planning, illustrating and designing seven new greeting cards, all of which are now available on my website here yay! It felt nice to create something a little smaller after such a huge project.

The second week of June was dedicated to revising my Melbourne colouring book.

After my first market, I noticed a few little inconsistencies that I wanted to improve. The biggest change was replacing all of my handwritten text with a consistent font throughout the book. I also added a colouring checklist (which I somehow forgot the first time around 😂) and updated a handful of illustrations to focus more on cosy, everyday Melbourne moments rather than just tourist landmarks.

I'm happier with this version, but as always I always feel that there are ways to improve it haha... I also FINALLY updated my website and have listed my colouring book online! I spent longer than I'd care to admit taking the product photos but I'm just happy it's up and live :)

Midway through the month, Lucas and I flew to Sydney to see one of our favourite artists, Porter Robinson. From there, I headed straight to Shanghai for my very first international work trip.

We spent a few days there for work, and it was honestly such an incredible experience. One thing I don't talk about enough is how grateful I am to genuinely enjoy my full-time job. Working in digital marketing gives me the chance to use more of my analytical / strategic side of my brain during the day while still leaving enough creative energy to come home and build Studio Meeko.

After returning to Australia, everything seemed to happen at once.

The final week of June was all about preparing for my second art market while organising my biggest Studio Meeko order to date.

A university purchased 15 copies of my Melbourne colouring book to take to Indonesia, and I was also asked to license four colouring activity sheets for one of their events.

That was a bit of a pinch-me moment.

It was the first time Studio Meeko started feeling less like a hobby and more like a real little business. 

The month wrapped up with my second market on June 28. I made $450 in revenue and around $330 profit, met some lovely people, had friends stop by to say hello and walked away with a bit more confidence in where Studio Meeko is heading.

Looking back...

If May was about creating my first product, June was about learning how to build a business around it.

I'm slowly realising that the next step isn't necessarily making more products.

It's helping more people discover the ones I've already created.

I'm excited to see where July takes us.
